Organisations today operate in an increasingly complex environment, shaped by technological disruption, demographic shifts, evolving workforce expectations, and growing pressure for more inclusive, ethical, and sustainable business practices. In this context, human capital is no longer just a matter of operational excellence; it demands board-level attention as a critical lever of corporate governance, risk oversight, and sustainable value creation.
Recognising this, the Mauritius Institute of Directors (MIoD) has established the Human Capital Governance Forum (HCGF) in collaboration with its esteemed Founder ER Group. The HCGF aims to foster a high-level, cross-sector community of board directors, business leaders, and experts committed to advancing human capital governance practices through insight-sharing, strategic dialogue, and thought leadership.
Objectives of the HCGF:
- Advocate for Human Capital as a Strategic Priority: Lead thought-leadership and knowledge-sharing initiatives, including publications, collaborations, and events to elevate human capital as a core boardroom and leadership priority, emphasising its link to sustainable value creation, ethical stewardship, and organisational performance.
- Engage with Stakeholders: Contribute to consultations and engagement sessions on matters relating to human capital governance to support the implementation of a responsible and enabling business ecosystem.
- Curate Thought Leadership Events: Organise targeted sessions and an annual HCNext edition to explore trends shaping the workforce and the future of work, stimulating informed dialogue among directors, business leaders, and professionals.
- Facilitate Cross-Sector Engagement: Convene roundtables and peer dialogues to enable board members, senior executives, HR leaders, and experts to exchange perspectives and share effective governance practices.
Through regular events, roundtables, and networking opportunities, the HCGF fosters a community of practice among board directors, senior executives, and HR leaders, encouraging a proactive approach to human capital governance. The HCGF was set up with the support of its Founding Members: Absa Bank, Alteo Group, Constance Group, Currimjee Group, ER Group, Mauritius Telecom, Terra Group, and UBP Group.
